Installing Trophy Tail Extensions

There are many techniques for installing tail extensions. The Tail Tamer Trophy Tails line has been designed around the four most popular methods being used today. To assist you in understanding each of these methods, we have assembled step-by-step instructions with pictures to assist you in becoming proficient in installing your tail extension. Of course if you prefer, most trainers or grooms will install a tail extension for you. However, for the do-it-yourselfer, the steps are relatively easy to follow, and with some practice and patience it’s not difficult to obtain good results on your own.

Of course it’s important to exercise caution whenever working around horses, especially when working behind them. If your horse has never had an extension put on, work through the steps slowly and have someone assist to keep the horse calm. After the tail is installed, take care that it is the proper length so as it does not get stepped on and pulled out.

And a final note, DO NOT keep your tail extension in after you show! Doing so is the recipe for all kinds of problems, including damage to the horse’s existing tail if the extension is suddenly yanked out. Visit our page on CARE AND TIPS for additional care information.
