New Organization Formed to
Provide Assistance to Horse Rescue Efforts |
A new organization operating under the name RESCUE has been founded to assist horse rescue groups across the country. Created through the efforts of Jacque Miller of Pastimes Gift Collections, and noted author Buck Kalinowski, RESCUE’s vision is to provide a central point for the collection and distribution of financial, material and educational assistance to 501(c)(3) (non-profit) horse rescue groups across the country. In addition to fundraising, its goals include the establishment of a networked group of equestrian professionals to share advice and provide assistance to rescue groups, and to speak as a common voice to raise public awareness and gain support for the plight of American horses in need.
While there are multitudes of hard-working horse rescue groups scattered across the country, the majority are localized efforts drawing upon limited resource pools. Founders Jacque Miller and Buck Kalinowski saw a need to provide a centralized resource capable of raising the issue of horse rescue into the national spotlight. By doing so, RESCUE will be ideally positioned to reach out to larger funding and material sources, and in turn direct those resources to qualifying rescue groups in the forms of financial grants or other aid packages. RESCUE is itself a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) organization, making it an ideal fit for entities wishing to make tax-deductible donations that will benefit horses in need.
In a show of support Tail Tamer Products, Inc. has joined with Jacque Miller’s company Pastimes Gift Collections to provide baseline funding for RESCUE. Participation to date includes upfront cash contributions, and a long-term financial commitment based on a percentage of sale proceeds from select product items. Customers who purchase products labeled with the RESCUE logo will be making an indirect contribution to, and supporting the work of RESCUE.
RESCUE has selected the famed horse Cupid from Buck Kalinowski’s book Cupid’s Secret, the real-life story of a sickly mare rescued from slaughter, to serve as a mascot for the organization. Rescued from her terrible plight by Buck in 1999, the mare’s story changed his life and inspired him to tell her tale in story. His efforts have drawn national attention, and notice that a motion picture and an animated series featuring Cupid and her friends are in the works. Selecting Cupid as a mascot was a natural choice to generate additional exposure for RESCUE. Buck resides at Hillside Equestrian Meadows in Wolcott, Connecticut where he works with individuals with special needs and inner-city youths. Treating animals with the same respect as you would treat people is the principle Buck lives by. That, and his personal motto: “Believe…All Things Are Possible.” |
