| Dyeing |
We have done it, but it is not for the faint of heart, especially with an
expensive white tail! These tails are made of coarse horse hair. They
will take more dye than human hair, and the processing time is longer.
We cannot recommend dying any color except for black. Black hair is
by far the safest to dye. If you want to get a true jet black tail, you can
simply buy an over the counter hair color. Use two boxes for a one
pound tail, and one box for a half pound tail. This will cover up the
lighter ends and get rid of any sorrel or white hairs. Like any dye, it
will fade after washings, so you may have to re-dye the hair a couple
of times during a season. If your horse’s real tail is sun bleached, you
can use the same process! |
