Trophy Tails

CHOOSING A TAIL EXTENSION

Choosing a Tail Extension

Weight

Weight - One Pound or Half Pound?
Trophy Tails are available in standard one pound and half pound weights. Unlike some tail extensions, our one pound tails REALLY do weigh a full pound. Our one pound tails come standard 38 inches long and our half pound tails come standard 37 inches long. While the half pound Trophy Tails are 37 inches long, they are more tapered then our one pound blunt cut tails and therefore weigh only half as much.

One pound tails are a great choice for a really full look. Most western pleasure horses use a one pound tail. Many dressage horses use one pound tails to achieve that full banged look. Typically one pound tails look too overwhelming on young horses. For lunge line horses and younger halter horses, a half pound tail is a better choice. Hunters who are looking for some general fill also usually choose a half pound tail. These are general guidelines, as all horses are different, and all owner tastes vary!
